Our Story

Life’s Seasons was co-founded by Jim & Annette Miner, and Tina Hunter.  Annette had a phrase that she could often be heard saying, and that was “Everyone Matters”.  Her dream was to create a safe place where people could be welcomed, cared for, and supported.

Annette wanted people to feel valued and respected as they journeyed through hard seasons in their life, and to know that they were not journeying alone.  Life’s Seasons was built on the understanding that everyone does matter, and they should know and feel that way as they work through difficult experiences with trained staff, willing and able to meet their needs.  Annette passed in 2020, but her dream continues through Life’s Seasons.

Our Mission

At Life’s Seasons, our mission is to come alongside children, youth, couples, families, and individuals of all ages who are in need of support while going through difficult life experiences.  Our aim is to encourage, equip, and empower those who are hurting, as well as those who work with them, with the skills and resources necessary to journey through those times.

Our Background

Life’s Seasons became a registered Ontario business in 2011 out of the humble beginnings of a renovated garage in Bright’s Grove.  By the end of 2012, Life’s Seasons was incorporated as a non-profit organization, with dedicated staff who were accredited by the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children.  In July 2013, Life’s Seasons became a registered charitable organization and began to outgrow its space in Bright’s Grove.

An additional satellite location was opened in Petrolia in 2014.  Life’s Seasons’ current office in Point Edward was opened in November of 2017 where the Bright’s Grove and the Petrolia office operations were consolidated under one roof.  After successfully completing Starr Commonwealth’s Trauma Informed Accreditation requirements, Life’s Seasons became Starr’s first accredited training agency in October 2018.

Tribute to Annette Miner

September 3, 1958 - January 15, 2020

Annette was a co-founder of Life’s Seasons, but also a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, mentor, and friend.

Making a difference in others’ lives isn’t just what Annette did, it was who she was.  With words, actions, and deeds, Annette modelled for us, how to truly walk alongside those who were in need of care and support.  Annette would often be heard saying “everyone matters” and she lived it.
